Responsibilities & Context
The Transport Operation Officer is a pivotal role managing the entire lifecycle of the transport fleet, from strategic planning and deployment to maintenance and regulatory compliance.
Core Areas of Responsibility:
Transport Management & Planning:
- Demonstrate expertise in hiring vehicles for goods delivery nationwide.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily transport operations, including the development and implementation of efficient transport schedules, routes, and vehicle allocation.
- Monitor and evaluate vehicle utilization to maximize efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Vehicle Maintenance & Safety:
- Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, properly maintained, and serviced on time.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
- Monitor fuel usage and implement systems to prevent misuse.
- Ensure all vehicles have valid registration, tax tokens, route permits, and safety equipment.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure full compliance with all transport laws, government regulations, and organizational policies.
- Maintain updated, accurate records of all transport activities (logbooks, fuel, maintenance, insurance claims).
- Experience liaising with government offices for permits and registrations.
- Actively respond to emergencies/accidents, investigate incidents, and implement measures to mitigate risks.
Resource & Personnel Management:
- Recruit and supervise drivers, preparing duty rosters, monitoring performance, and enforcing discipline.
- Conduct regular safety briefings and promote safe driving practices.
- Monitor and control all transport-related expenses to ensure optimal use of resources.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Diploma in Engineering (Automobile/Power) or Graduation in any other subject, provided there is vast experience in Transport Management and Maintenance.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the relevant field (Transport Service or Transportation).
- Age: Must be between 26 and 35 years.
Required Competence & Skills
- Technical Expertise: Solid experience in transport management, maintenance, and tracking.
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in operating Transport Management Software, MS Word, and Excel.
- Communication & Compliance: Good verbal and written communication skills in both Bangla and English; strong knowledge of transport compliance and regulation policies.
- Strategic Skills: Well-versed in routing planning and optimization.
- Leadership: Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
