Special Note: This role requires mandatory fieldwork across various locations in Bangladesh. Candidates must be prepared to work in rural/remote areas and need a valid motorcycle driving license as duty may require motorcycle use.

Key Responsibilities

The Audit Officer will be crucial in ensuring financial integrity and compliance across PBK’s expansive operations. Primary duties include:

  • Branch Audit Execution: Completing full audit activities for branch loan programs and other related schemes, and participating in Head Office audit tasks when required.
  • Transaction Verification: Regularly auditing all transactions at the branch, center, and field levels, meticulously verifying financial activities such as loan disbursement, installment collection, savings mobilization, and other deposits.
  • Record Reconciliation: Cross-checking consistency among physical records, including cash books, ledgers, and vouchers, against the data recorded in the MIS/Software system.
  • Asset & Compliance Check: Conducting physical verification of fixed assets, examining cash balances, performing bank reconciliations, and verifying fund balances.
  • Reporting & Remedial Action: Identifying all financial and administrative irregularities, providing objective and neutral reports after each audit, and proposing effective remedial recommendations to management.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitoring and reporting whether branches strictly adhere to organizational policies, operational guidelines, MRA/NGO Bureau standards, and financial regulations.
  • Risk Management: Actively identifying risks (including fraud, misappropriation, and error) and conducting field-level investigation and ‘Surprise Visits’ as needed to prevent potential financial losses.

Required Qualifications

To apply, candidates must meet the following academic, experience, and ethical standards:

  • Education: Graduate or Post-Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Management from any recognized institution. No Third Class/Division in the entire academic career is acceptable.
  • Certification: Completion of CA (CC) will be considered a significant advantage and a basis for priority consideration.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of proven work experience in internal audit within a reputable Microfinance NGO that is registered under MRA and partnered with PKSF.

Skills & Expertise

  • Software Proficiency: Priority will be given to candidates proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bangla/English typing, and Internet use.
  • Reporting Skills: Excellent ability to write and prepare clear, detailed, and work-related subject-based reports.
  • Mobility: Must be able to operate a motorcycle for duty and possess a valid driving license.
  • Personal Attributes: Must be hardworking, possess high moral character, honesty, strong responsibility towards duty, and the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Workplace, Salary & Benefits

  • Location: The initial posting will be at any branch office within the organization’s working area, potentially requiring relocation to remote/rural locations across Bangladesh.
  • Salary: During the 6-month probationary period, the salary will be Tk. 30,000/- (all-inclusive).
